Commercial lead managing the Shift relationship and coordinating the supply and support of igloo connected locks
A component brand inside somebody else's operation.
Shift needed secure connected locks for collection points supporting its large-item IKEA UK collection service. Igloo's role was the access hardware layer—not ownership of Shift's platform, lockers or retailer operation.
The commercial system behind the result.
Where the opportunity had to work.
How the opportunity moved through the handoffs.
What the work created or where it stands now.
Move the opportunity through the handoffs.
Three practical stages kept the commercial requirement connected to delivery.
Understand the access requirement
Work with Shift to define how connected locks could secure collection compartments within its operating model.
Coordinate lock supply
Manage the commercial relationship and internal coordination required to supply 700 connected locks for the rollout.
Support the partner deployment
Remain the commercial contact for the igloo hardware contribution while Shift managed its platform, collection infrastructure and IKEA relationship.
Start with the collection problem
Shift’s service creates convenient collection points for large items. Within that wider system, igloo supplied the connected access hardware: 700 locks used to secure collection compartments supporting the IKEA UK rollout.
I managed the Shift relationship and coordinated igloo’s hardware contribution. Shift remained responsible for its platform, collection-point infrastructure and retailer operation. This clearer division of responsibility makes the case stronger, not weaker: it shows how a component brand can become a useful part of a larger partner-led solution.
Why it matters
This case demonstrates how connected-product companies can win through integration into somebody else’s operating model. The commercial task is to understand the requirement, make the hardware contribution reliable and support the partner through rollout.
What this shows I can bring to another business.
- Opening a strategic B2B partnership around an operational problem
- Supplying connected hardware into a partner-owned retail service
- Defining responsibilities clearly across the brand, platform partner and retailer
Scope and responsibility.
What did you own in the IKEA and Shift project?
I managed the Shift relationship and coordinated igloo's supply and support of 700 connected locks. Shift owned the platform, collection infrastructure and IKEA relationship.
What capability does this case demonstrate?
It demonstrates partner development and cross-functional execution around a real retail-operations problem, rather than a simple hardware placement.
