I was involved in the Shift IKEA project from the ground up—starting with the initial concept pitch to our logistics partner, Shift, and managing all technical integrations from proof-of-concept through full deployment. IKEA, known for its innovative retail approach, needed a solution to facilitate convenient locker pickups for bulky orders located outside its stores. I collaborated with our internal software and hardware teams, as well as Shift’s developers, to deploy 700 igloo deadbolts, enabling customers to purchase goods from the IKEA website and conveniently collect them at these lockers. This solution not only enhanced the customer experience but also provided scalability, as Shift delivery drivers can use the lockers to deliver other goods. With the trial proving successful, the project is progressing further with the potential to roll out to other major retail customers. My involvement—from introducing our solution to collaborating closely with the Shift team—ensured that the lockers are actively used and continue to deliver long-term value.
